Digital Smile Design has been part of our clinical workflow for over a decade — long before it became a marketing phrase. When the methodology began gaining international attention around 2013–2014, Dr. Finkel was serving as Education Director of NYU’s Advanced Esthetics residency, teaching residents how to integrate facially-guided digital planning into real clinical cases. He was an early adopter, and an early educator, of this approach. Digital Smile Design allows us to analyze your face in precise detail: midline position, lip dynamics, smile arc, tooth proportions, and subtle asymmetries. Using calibrated photography and digital overlays, we design a smile that is harmonized to your facial architecture — not copied from someone else. This is not simple “Photoshopping.” The digital plan is translated into real-world measurements, ensuring that what we design on screen can be executed accurately in porcelain. The result is predictability and clarity. Also, DSD helps us see any limitations before treatment begins — so we never promise what cannot be delivered.
